Everyone has the same map, but you can't tell where everyone else is if they are more then 2 spaces ahead of you, thus almost destroying the thought of an alliance. Which is good if you don't like alliances.

That fog of war idea needs to be implemented!

Sounds great

but there is small problem with start of the game in conquer mode... everyone would end up in same spot if they don't see enemies :)

Yes, very true. ANother reason for certain maps with assigned starting spots.

stop it already. it is not universal solution to every existing problem. We are trying to come up with different ideas, not reasons why yours should be added

How about you can see where everyone places their territories, then after the first 2 turns, you can't see them. That would be hard to do but it is a thought.

it isn't hard to do. I considered showing picked regions and turn FOW after everyone picks his starting region, but this allows alliances as well. Other alternative is to hide map altogether and assign each player 1 regions automatically, this way it wouldn't not be FOW, but standard pitch black you see in many strategies where you have to explore map first. It could be fun, but I don't know. I don't want to add gajilion settings because it will be confusing and unmanageable.

Here's a different idea: maybe you choose as many starting spots as there are players in the game, un order of how they want them, then have the game assign it to them. Probably not a very practical idea, but new.

Xerxes:Let us reason. It would be a waste. It would be madness for you and your troops to perish because of a misunderstanding. There is much our cultures could share.
Leonidas:Haven't you noticed? We've been sharing our culture with you all morning.
