Lopdo, maybe you should make an option where someone could turn in a certain amount of shards for a certain amount of coins.
For example: 1000 shards for 10 coins

There's a reason you pay for coins. You earn shards, you buy coins to contribute to the game or skip ahead a bit, but they aren't just an alternative game currency. Maybe coins to shards, but not the other way around.
