By not showing up, do you mean, not being able to spectate? or that their coming should not be advertised.

Did you happen to read George Orwell's 1984? It's a very good read and a great insight into the human mind and the fallacies we have about utopia and security. Something that struck me as intense was the fact that cameras were installed into people's homes. They were not allowed to have sex without thinking of the party leader, not allowed to own a book, to show a tear, or a sad face. If anyone was seen twitching, they were taken away, never to be seen again. There were only 2% of the high pillars of the government that were in charge of watching people in real-time in their house, but
the point was not that they were watched all times, it was that they had the possibility to be watched at all times without knowing that they were being watched at all times. The government was thinking they did the right thing, and indeed, the only crimes in the country, were the crimes committed by the government itself. The actual population had no means nor hope of even stealing a smile from each other, at risk of high treason. Whilst the situation is different, the means you propose to achieve your situation, is similar in ideal and in practice. It is wrong for practical reasons as well as moral reasons for situations of (yet again,) abuse. Whilst mods can be deemed trustworthy by fellow mods, the mods/admins of previous forums/games/mmos are amongst the most self righteous and corrupt individuals I have had the opportunity to have a conversation with.
I have the right to know when I am being spied upon and I can only be watched with my explicit permission.
If policemen enter my house and find weed, they actually cannot testify in court for that weed, because they are not legally able to enter my house without a warrant and a warrant can only be obtained if reasonable proof is suspected/found. In the case of a warrant, the owner of the house is not alerted that his house will be searched, but
he has to be present (thus aware) in the event of a search. What they do in all the action movies, when they enter the house and disregard whether the person is there or not, is strictly illegal. (<-- Please extract the general idea from my text, not details, as I know some users are fond of doing.)
