Roll 6
Verdant is, but demons, as well as other flight capable races, get an extra passive called 'Winged'.
You will roll for dodge or parry or intercept. A lot of times it'll be indicated before an attack, at least for now. Less so later on in the game. You can choose which defense mode you wish for in your action (whether you get attacked that turn or not.) If you don't choose I'll assume that you'll use your strongest defense type.

The Xenevian whirls around but its eyes widen as you cast a flame blast in its direction.

I land, then walk towards the door and open it. Unfortunately, the door has a bomb inside it which detonated when I twisted the doorknob, thus killing me instantly. GAME OVER.

You go to the door and open it. A hallway is presented to you on the other side. You go through until you emerge into the light. Your three teammates are there waiting for you. You see your captain again, and she looks really relaxed.
Ah that's better. Now, we should work on our team exercise. But, I don't recall you guy's names.... Oh yeah and there is one more thing. I want each of you to choose a secondary weapon. Already got mine. She motions to her rapier, a stark contrast to the bow on her back. She then points at you and motions towards a box.
Presented to you is a standard broadsword with a red gem, an assault-rifle grade musket (basically the only difference is it can only hold one shot) along with a set of brownish musket balls, a red staff, and a scroll with a fire emblem on it.

You pick up the broadsword, giving it a few swings. It feels nicely balanced and leaves a shimmering of red air.
'I won't be able to burn all my enemies with magic, so I choose versatility.' you say. You then stow the blade away for future use. Your teammates all follow suit, picking weapons and then introducing themselves. The Shadow speaks first, stating her name is Raeya. Next is the Yellar, Ekeziar, and then the Chryse, Nella. Raeya was about to say something to you before you were interrupted by a voice booming from a nearby intercom.
'Will Team Seven, Callsign Sabres, please report to the office. I repeat, Sabre, please report to the main office.'
'That's us' Raeya says.
You follow her to an office with the rest of your squadron. You get into a reception area and are waved through into a passageway. A high-ranking official greats you and walks you into a room a ways down the hall.

'I understand this will be your first sortie,' he says. 'But we are short on people. We need you to go and watch over negotiations. Recently one of our mining projects caused the collapse of a Surface village, and they want payment. To make sure nothing goes out of control we're sending you as guards. You'll be leaving in two hours. That's all.

You all walk out of the building.
Raeya: Well we have two hours to make preparations. We should prepare by doing a quick spar, and then rest up and prepare our equipment. Okay, so, choose a sparing partner everyone.
