P-b5 from Pingu shows a certain technical ability which I did chuckle about. If Pxb5 then Qxa1, if NxP then BxN which wins the knight. The problem with this queen-side attack is that I have an in-between move which stops this line of thought. Which is why I never played it. Also it opens up more lines of attack for me.

Don't get me wrong though, a very good technical move which does show a lot of cognitive ability on behalf on Pingu

Necrocat219, welcome to the game. Maybe your right, I could go an exchange down in a tradefest and still come out smelling of roses at the end of it.

There is not a consensus of opinion yet on what the next move for black maybe...

Still open to the forum for the next move.

No problem, no need to be that kind with me ;) Believe me, I'm a real noob regarding chess, and I would not be hurt hearing that my suggestion was just silly :D

Well now, back to the game... My concern was that, at least with the Pxh5 proposed by Joshua, White keeps the full offensive initiative (it is actually catastrophic, next can be Qxh5 which can be quite dangerous together with the Knight in g5 and the two "advanced" pawns, no ?).

So I tried to revert that initiative with a move that would force White moves, at least on short term. Now that I consider it more closely, it was not that great.

In this sense, the other suggestion from Joshua (Bh6) is probably better. Note that I also see an alternative with Ph6 - not sure if it's smarter. Any of these should send the g5 Knight somewhere in center or back on White side.

I see no other great idea. White is definitely more powerful with many open ways to the queen and bishops, whereas Black's queen is pretty poorly used at the moment...
Things I have considered :
Bg7, Pe6, Pf6 - to try to get rid of these pawns in center ?
Qc7 - no real idea here but trying to bring queen in more central position - a too passive move somehow

Any serious player to help ? Joshua ? Aygor, necrocat, others ? Bh6 or better idea ?

Welcome to the game Pingu.

White takes black knight on h5 and prepares to unleash armageddon on the board.

Open to forum for next move.

In my opinion the next 3 turns seem to be quite predictable.
Peon G6 eats Bishop in H5.
Aye!

Pingu's suggestions and Joshua's bishop to G7 are sweet moves, but almost inevitably give in to the attack leading to serious trouble in a few steps.
In my opinion it is best to "take back" a piece now, which would lead to some interesting possibilities and avoid future trouble for the left wing.

Variation 1 ... Pxh5
Image
P-e6 The attack remains but black is still up in material.

This also was my in-between move which made 12 ... P-b5 imposssible(1).

12. ... p-b5
13. P-e6 which forces the bishop away from a4-e8 diagonal otherwise(1).

Variation 2 ... B-g7
Image
White is up by a Knight for a pawn in material and sacks his knight on f7.

These are my next move, in each variation.
Which variation should we keep? - and of course we need the next move by black.

Open to the forum for next move.

(1) P-b5 Variant, Black cannot take the Whites rook on a1, because of the mate in 7.

Umm.. I swear I said BH6 and not G7..

B-h6 still leads to the continuation of 13. P-e6 with black being a piece down. I will show you why the variant will not work after the next few moves.
