Kim Jong Il died...

Thoughts?

Make no mistake, they are being forced to weep. It's a "You weep openly or you die" kind of situation.
For those of you whom have no idea what this means; the leader of North Korea is dead. He was one of the most evil people to have existed by any standard of the word evil. He starved and oppressed his people and then deluded himself into believing that they love him. He has followed in his father's footsteps Kim Jong Sung and brainwashed a whole population. North Korea is one of the only remaining secluded countries in the world. No one enters and no one leaves North Korea.

After watching that video, I found the last sentence to be quite alarming. It is a propaganda statement from 1984 that's cited literally from the book; down to using the word "comrade" as leader.

The most alarming thing about this is the instability of the region and the mass nuclear weaponry produced in North Korea. They have more bombs than every other country in the world apart from USA and they have the largest and strongest military force in the world right now. (No that it matters how many bombs they actually have...)

In case you are wondering what a nuclear weapon can do: The bomb on Hiroshima in 1940 was 300kilotons; the test bomb in Russia in the 1960s was 47 megatons, and was found to be approximately 3000x stronger. Following the same proportional increase (considering that memory in chips increases proportionally), we would be at 6000x larger than the Russian bomb or, 1 800 000 000% increase in bomb potential since Hiroshima. For those of you who do not know what a nuclear weapon actually is, it is similar to a chain bomb. The bomb keeps exploding so much as atoms continue to fissure. As it stands, a bomb of that size would destroy half a continent. (Why anyone would need millions of those bombs is beyond my comprehension. I guess it's all about fear.)

tl;dr
Boom Boom we all die because of asian instability.

His death will hardly affect the regime, sadly...
It's a "You weep openly or you die" kind of situation.

Yeah that's right, but the worst part is that this only affects the elderly and only a tiny portion of "silent protesters". Since the regime has been long enough for a few generations of people to change, the minds of children some of who have become young adults by now is directly affected by the propaganda. North Koreans proved that mass brainwashing is possible. So the next time you see a young North Korean adult crying for dear life, don't think he's necessarily faking and he's scared to die.
they have the largest and strongest military force in the world right now

That's not 100% accurate. They have the largest troop battalion in the world, with plenty of nuclear weaponry and basic supplies (guns, ammo, tanks). The only upside is - their technologies are really, really outdated. Downside - due to globalization, they're catching up.
No one enters and no one leaves North Korea

The funny thing is, they had a stricter isolation "policy" in the past. Now they let in some outside reporters with 24/7 supervision to show off their "might" by forcing some people to exaggerate the greatness of their leader, the Kim sung dude. The guy made himself president for life, what's up with that... Anyway there is an interesting documentary made by the reporters who got into North Korea, you can really see the propaganda put into the reporter's face. If you are interested, take a look at this video, I found it interesting to discuss about with some people. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJ6E3cShcVU

The best part about the history of North Korea to me is the whole North Korea/South Korea thing. The war is not ok of course, but the way North Koreans tried to do one thing seemed hilarious to me. They built 4 Massive tunnels of which the smallest one "would have allowed approximately 2,000 KoreanPeopleArmy soldiers (one regiment) to pass through it per hour." And the United nations/America turned it into tourist attractions... since the government stated they had no idea the tunnels were being dug. Pathetic... On a brighter side, a comedian name Collin Quinn made a great stand-up show called "Long story short" which actually sums up all of the main empires throughout the history in a satyrical yet informed way. The thing I loved the most, was the ending which summed up the basic situation of the world "Today". He mention North Korea and South Korea in a perfect analogy. Warning: Basic world knowledge is required to get the jokes. http://www.ultra-vid.com/colin-quinn-long-story-short-2011 Skip to 74:20 for the summing up (some jokes are better when you see it from the beginning). If you get interested by the ending, please watch the whole show.

Lastly, what scared me most is their DISCIPLINE! I would be scared of an army with a marching army of women with bazookas.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yp6cB7BGj48 It's just devastating... the idealistic march... the symmetry... too messed up. My friends showed me this video when I was high. Enough said ;)

To end with fun, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJNBfBr-OGU this is how it should be! :D

Nice post Beta.

Although about that last link... Don't you find it sad that we(this generation) listen to LMFAO while our parents listen to Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin? Music used to mean something. :(

While I love experimenting in music (excluding the POP arena), I still surely listen to the older generations, lots of epic tracks. But don't think that artists today can't put meaning into what they do, it's just a slightly different vibe, we are of a different generation in general.

The nature of our societies "groups" affects the music taste in trends. Being various helps you see the big picture of the era and be all-rounded. It's also good nervous stimulation (Different types of music affect the nervous system in different ways), so you can spend lots and lots of time listening to it and simply realizing how the mood correlates with the music.

The current "technological advancements" have really had an impact on the general population and that resulted in focusing on electronic music. Clubs, raves, parties - lots of electronics going on. But there's a lot to see in all sorts of music with the exception of "trendy" music. The Manufactured bullshit, that's more about TV and celebrities than music. Artists that are not advertised, the underground, collectives - true music of our generation.

I never spend a day at home without putting on an epic track from the past, the epicness is just irresistible. It's fun to start a day with a good ambient breeze, going into lounge music in the noon, with some old school legends in the afternoon, going to a smooth jazz in the evening ending with some liquid drum and bass as night turns into morning again and another day begins :D

1. The morning started with "Bonobo - Terrapin" as an alarm clock early in the morning, right before the sun rises. As the song progresses, the sun rises filling you with energy.
2. Going noon wise with "Morcheeba Wonders - Never Cease"
3. Then the time for car funk with "Breakestra - Stand Up"
4. It's afternoon and time for some "Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird" with that unique solo of his.
5. As the evening come, the tune changes to a jazzy "Tape Five - Bad Boy Good Man"
6. Up till now when it became a mind chaos with "Spor - Aztec" and I wonder how I got to something like "Infected Mushroom - Mush Mushi" and the day resets with a wonderful, and thoughtful night ahead.

If there was still the 70's groove, I could be in it 24/7, wouldn't need variety no more ;)

I would associate techno, electronic music and a fast beat with the electronics concept in the sense that this generation has a very short attention span and can't seem to focus on something for more than 5 seconds without losing patience/interest... :P

although Kim Jong 2 was a very evil person, we ourself aren't exactly angels either, first of all, we americans (if you are polish or some other dude im not talking to you) killed tons of innocent people in middle east just to kill one person! When you put that in persceptive, alot of leaders are in a way bad.
