does this mean that google is spying on us?

No, but really, does anyone know why there is a google bot in the VW forums?

Likely that google is doing what google does and is indexing the forum for searching. Likely that the forum software is coded to pick up the user agent of google so it can show that the pages are currently being index.

I have also seen a Yahoo bot.

All the major search engines bots will at one point or another be seen on the forums. Its is there way of adding to there search data base.
