Alpha 12

New Features

- Finished the create game and user map picker pop ups
- Finished the chat used in the lobby and game room. All of the bugs I found are fixed.
- Finished the lobby game list. It shows all of the games (including some it shouldn't since the filter isn't implemented) and pagination works.
- Buttons show correct cursor
- Prevents user from being logged in twice
- Improved word wrap used in loading screen and lobby chat
- Improved fps. Typing should be much smoother now. Centering the game canvas was taking a very long time every few frames. I am using css to center the game now, but the browser still spends 11ms of the 16ms I have per frame on this.

Bug Fixes

- text is wrapped in confirmation dialog
- popup window height adjusts to height of text
- You can not click buttons that are behind a pop up
- Fix not being able to change race after logging out and back in
- Fix errors popups reappearing
- Fix showing game type in game room when the type is 1v1q

Bug Fixes:
- Fix players not being able to chat in lobby
- Always returns to lobby after failing to join a game
- Fix showing race on regions in a full map
- Fix location of game chat
- Fix expanding game side bar when boosts are disabled
- Fix showing random distribution icon in lobby for started games
- Fix a couple misspelled words
- Refreshing game list in lobby is much smoother
- Fix error message when failed to join game for unknown reason (formerly it said you had recently been kicked)

New Features
- Supports all map backgrounds

Bug Fixes

Lobby:
- Refresh button now works after an error when refreshing games
- It no longer shows an error when there is an error during an automatic refresh of the game list
- The refresh button now says 'loading' if clicked when in the middle of an automatic refresh
- Fix line spacing in chat

Game Room
- Fix checking black list
- Fix black boxes sometimes appearing
- Fix line spacing in chat
- Fix level icon remaining after player leaves game room

Game:
- Fix draw button not appearing when draw is available
- Fix position of draw flag
- Army text in side panel is now centered correctly
- Fix outline not showing around chat messages in chat
- New turn text shows correct color for teal and brown
- Fix region army highlight for teal and brown
- Does not show message 'choose your starting region' when starting type is full map
- Buttons in game show correct cursor
- The text in the game over screen for guests is correctly aligned

- Fix Tannenbaums
- Text boxes update their positions when the browser is resized

Alpha 12.3

The borders between regions of different colors would overlap, hiding one of the borders. This is now fixed. The borders have gaps in places, which will be fixed in a later update.

Zoom in games has improved. The zoom levels are different depending on the size of the map. Small maps have no zoom, and very large maps have 4 levels. The smallest level will show the whole map, and is now the default when the game starts. I would love feedback on this change.

**Changes**

Lobby
- Games with a minimal level are not shown to players with a lower level
- Games that have ended are not listed
- Fixed "No Guests" missing from create game screen
- Fix guests could not close the user map picker

Game Room
- It does not tell you it was unable to join for an unknown reason

Game
- Fix selecting region at zoom levels other than the former default
- Fix selecting regions that are next to the side bar when narrow
- Fix location of chat text box
- Fix for when a player disconnects while attacking a region
- Show chat message when player leaves
- Regions no longer show their id when they have no owner

Other
- Small improvements to loading time

Question, my old PC can't download a Html5,so can i still play vortex wars when you get the new unit downloaded.?

There is nothing special you need to download. If you use a web browser that has been updated within the past couple years, it should work.

I checked out the current HTML5 version, and I would say that it's coming along pretty nicely. Idk if it's just a placebo effect but it seems to run faster, and it's playable half the time. Obviously, it's very buggy, but it's a WIP and not a finished product...

... And what do you mean by "better premium features"?

If i have time, I will add one or two more benefits to the premium account in 3.0. I have a few ideas, but nothing certain yet.

Alpha 13

Progress to full screen
When a game starts, it will resize to use all of the available space. All that is missing for full screen is a button.

When resizing the game canvas, it would stretch the game for about 100 milliseconds. To avoid that, the screen will be blank until it is finished drawing the game screen and resizing the canvas. I am experimenting with alternative solutions.

Leader board
This update adds the leader board. The leader board now has two pages of players for each category!

5x Performance improvement when drawing the game screen and game
It would take a few seconds to draw a large map. Now, it is a fraction of a second.

120x Performance improvement when a turn ends/starts.
Before each turn started, the entire map was redrawn. It now only redraws regions that need to be. You will have ~1.1 more seconds to use each turn.

Changes

Game
- Game resizes to use all available space
- The map and game screen is drawn 5x faster
- Only redraws regions when they need to be
- Zoom levels are recalculated when the sidebar is resized
- Fix the text color of the new turn message for green
- Fix line spacing for long messages in chat
- Fix wrong player's regions were made neutral when a player disconnected
- Fix alignment of text in fight screen
- Fix defense boost staying on region after used in a fight
- Fix game over screen sometimes not showing
- Fix last character in each chat message being cut off

Shortcut Menu
- Forum button works
- Add leader board

Login
- When you sign out, you will not be automatically logged back in if remember me is enabled

Game Room
- Add shortcut menu to game room

Lobby
- The scrollbar now adjusts it's size when a player leaves the lobby

Menu
- Add daily reward popup
- Add version text to menu

Other
- Fix the default font size for buttons; it was too large
