How does the ban list work?

Postby panda » Tue Oct 02, 2012 1:43 pm

I have found out how to add people to the banlist, but I do not fully understand it.

What I would like to achieve:
There are some people who just seem to ally for points. I do not mind informal allies or even explicit allying when a player gets strong (although I would not approve it). Playing with these folks is simply stupid, you spend some time in building up your lands and reinforcements only to realise later that they are all allied. Its a waste of time and I would like to avoid it, by adding all these players to my ban list, so that they do not join my games as well as that I am alerted if I am to join a game with some of the blacklisted persons.

Can this be done with the current ban function? Or can we have some kind of earmarking of users?

I am not sure I understand what you want to achieve, but you can add reason to each ban, so you can see if that guys is banned because he is rude idiot or because he is allying, whatever you type in there will be displayed along with ban message

Thanks, but it is still not clear to me, what the ban list does, and I have found no description for it.

But to whom is the ban message displayed and when? To the banned player or to me? I basically would like to have some red exclamation mark or so next to a player that is on my ban list.

when you join game and there are some players that are in your banlist, or someone from your banlist joins game you are in, message will be displayed in chat that goes something along those lines: "Player <player name> is in you banlist for following reason: <reason for ban you entered when banning this player>"

Just a side note about that, maybe it has been discussed already and rejected by Lopdo, but:

When waiting for a game to start and new players join, I usually first look at the right side of screen, where you can see players' name, race, level (and see stats by clicking their name), etc. It happened already in the past that a player in my ban list joins at the very end, so the game starts pretty fast (3 seconds). Or some banned player joins and the game master starts pretty right after that.

In these cases I have no time to see that sentence which has been added in the chat window. So my question is:

Since Friends appear with a green color, why not show banned players in red ? That would be much easier to figure out when someone undesirable just joined...

Doable, Lopdo ?

I agree , if banned players had a colour ,it would be much quicker to spot than reading the screen.
