Controling territoryes

I just got an idea.
I thought if you control 5 (meaby more or less) ordered territoryes you get bonus units (more units if ''continent'' is in middle or it haves a lot of territoryes).
I made and example on Europe map so you can easily understand.

Image

Example-If you control all yellow territoryes you get 4 units becouse there are 4 territoryes but you also get +1 unit becouse you control yellow ''continent''.

*EDIT*
Blue ''continent''- 4 units +1 unit
Red ''continent''- 4 units +1 unit
Yellow ''continent''- 4 units +1 unit
Green ''continent''- 4 units +2 unit
Pink ''continent''- 4 units +2 unit

This is example of bonus units by ''continents'' for Europe map. All ''continents'' on this map get +1 bonus unit except green and pink ''continents'' becouse they are in middle of map. Of course this example of bonus units for Europe map is just my idea/opinion how it ''needs'' to be.

So make it more of a copy of Risk? Good idea, I like it.

I suppose if they were just a game mode and didn't affect the original game it would be fine.

I wasnt thinking about game mode, but that would probably be better. ;)

As a different game mode? Sure, why not. The more options there are the more people can find something that fits them.

This would require totally different tactics. As for now it sometimes happens that players "switch" positions due to penetrating attack and similar counterattack. They don't care WHERE but HOW MANY regions they have. That would differ this "Risk-like-mode" from old ones.
Sadly this would also require some extensive "re-codding" of current engine i suppose. Not only the server one but also client (to somehow show "continents" and corresponding bonuses) and map editor (so new maps can handle "continents").
And yes, I've used "new maps". Old ones would not be risk-compatible at the current setup.

I like it. I don't see why anyone would dislike a new mode. They don't like it, they don't play it, but as someone said earlier, the more modes, the more the chances to suit everybody's play style.

I personally do not think it would be that difficult. The only change would be to add the actual bonuses, and to display a faint colored "contour" around a full area that has a bonus. Say your color is red and you have half of blue (from the first picture). Then your inside color would be red, and the contour would be inside red, outside, faintly, blue. Also, a little +1 or +2 would appear next to your name if you have a full colored area.

Thoughts?

I was thinking to have mini map in corner with whole map and colored bonus terrytories.
