Arachnids
+5% Attack bonus-That gives you a little more chance to win a attack combat.
+10% Spawn bonus-Gives you a +1 unit for every 10 terrytories connected.

Reptiles
+5% Defense bonus-That gives you a little more chance to win a defense combat.
+10% Spawn bonus-Gives you a +1 unit for every 10 terrytories connected.

So if you are offensive players you should buy arachnids, if you are more defensive buy reptiles.
My sugestion is to buy reptiles.

Since, in an average game, there are 8 players, it is statistically safe to assume that one will be attacked more than he will attack. Assuming equivalent efficiency in +5% atk and +5% def, you have statistically more chances of needing to defend, than needing to attack. For that reason, I use reptile.

I would disagree. First of all - 5% bonuses do not apply in rolls under 20 points. The average roll of 5s is 10-20. Considering that and fact that mostly used game type is "attrition" we can deduce following facts: If you let enemies 6s-8s attack you first, you're fried. You should always make it so your units attack his to at least lower his forces amount. In this case he will mostly attack with his 3s-6s which reduces bonus influence greatly. Due to an attack bonus you will have higher chance to defeat his troops while you should not have problem with withstanding his lower-armies attacks.

I would purchase to your style of play. If you tend to be an aggressive opponent, use Arachnids; likewise if you are a cautions opponent, use Reptiles. For me, I prefer Dragons  As for statistically being attacked more or less due to 2-8 players, this is negated. Just as there are more opponents to attack you... there are more opponents to which to chose to attack.

Personally I would agree with BelgarionRiva over Joriom in choosing Reptiles over Arachnids. However, I usually play HC games where you do not lose troops to multiple attacks unlike att games. But Joriom has a great point that in att games, attacking so you opponent has fewer troops is a valuable strategy. So, for that reason, i would say if you are playing HC games, choose Reptiles, in att games, choose Arachnids.

(@Gump, we aren't talking about you privileged people with the Dragons race :P As I cannot pay for it, I'll have to stick with the lesser races.)

I only buy races for looks in the first place. Therefore I would say Reptiles, because arachnids look too much like ninjas.
